Default Car alarm sensitive to cold

Hey guys so I am having this problem. I believe my car alarm is some how sensitive to the cold. When I was in the army ( FT. Campbell, KY) it would go off during the winter all the time. When I got out of the army, I moved down to FL, and it never went off, except maybe once or twice during the few days of cold. Now I am in OKC and at night it drops to about 40, mid 30's.

The alarm goes off at random times. I am currently working nights so I am up around 3-4 am. I ran a few tests with the car unlocked and the alarm still goes off! I don't know what to do. It is really annoying getting woken up from a sleep to my car alarm going off, or when I am watching TV and it just starts going off.

I keep getting complaints from my neighbors but I tell them I'm sorry there is nothing I can do. I have no idea what is causing this issue. It is a stock alarm system. Is there a way I can change the sensitivity on the stock alarm systems?

It’s probably moisture setting off the alarm (rather than temperature). Somehow a continuous connection happens, and apparently (by your report) it happens more in cold weather.

In your case where the alarm is sounding promiscuously, the best fix is disconnecting the OEM alarm and installing an aftermarket alarm.
