Default sometimes takes a while to start

i have an 08 350z about a month or so ago i lost my only set of keys and had to get a locksmith to cut and program a new one (its an illco key). ever since then about once a week ill get in my car and crank it as i always do to start it and it just cranks i take the key in and out of the ignition in between cranks and it will eventually start.this be the key or is this a tell that the battery is weak or something of that nature?also does anyone know of a place online where you can get a key cut and programmed that would be cheaper than 260$ at the dealership?
thanks
