Craigslist, you can get a motor for $1000 and drop it in.

Knocks and stuff like that , car needs to be shut down quick, longer it runs the more damage that happens. You will not get a CEL for a mechanical failure like that.

Yeah but my mechanics saying it's most likely a connecting rod, so I'ma drop the oil pan today and check it out. If there's metal shavings I'm going to get the block machined fixed, if there isn't I'm just going to replace the rods myself. OEM rods are about $65 each, so if that's the problem price range to fix is anywhere from $65-1,000. Should be a fun little experiment to learn more about this engine
I don't want to drop a new engine in there because my plan is to get the car fixed and sell it right away. It'll be worth more with the original engine than a replaced one

Mechanical failures don't throw a CEL? When I brought it to Nissan the guy told me anything involving the engine or tranny would turn the light on

No that guy wasn't trying to help, he was bashing me. I just bashed back, learn to read kid. Terrasmak is helping, that's how you help people. Not by saying "You're an idiot go pay someone". Take some notes and learn.

I hope this blows up in your face. Clown.

EDIT - FYI, he wasn't bashing you. He was giving you a piece of advice to save some money. You must have been coddled as a kid to take offense to things so easily.

God damn I love when people talk **** over the internet knowing they're protected behind a computer screen lmao...

"0 oil pressure is a measurement "oil pressure dropped" is not it sounds like you pretty much dont know much about car or fixing them so honestly dont even try, have it towed to a shop to do it for you."
Uhm no, he misunderstood his information and who the hell knows what he said after with that grammar. Either way, welcome to my ignore list as well. I have no time to deal with douches such as yourself.

Word of advice. Don't get a bunch of buddies. Get 1 good friend to help out. Just in my experience a bunch of friends sitting around "helping" turns into a disaster for your car. Trust me!

Not gonna replace em from under there. I'm checking the pan today and looking at the rods to see if I can see anything. On sunday I'm pulling the engine out

They're not all gonna help out, it's gonna be like a meet type thing? They're all gonna drive down here and pretty much watch and learn as well. I'm only gonna have 1 or 2 other people actually helping me out removing the engine

because no where did you say oil pressure dropped completely, the quotes was quoting you, you simply said word for word "oil pressure dropped". stay away from that mechanic hes an idiot, in order to replace the rods the entire engine needs removed or you have to drop the front k member and hold the engine up with a engine stand for the engine bay(bolts to strut towers). then drop the pan, take the crank out, remove the pistons and rods, your going to need all new bearings as well as new piston rings either way you go your looking at a absolute minimum of 10 hours of labor.

your own words tell me you know nothing about cars by asking how to diagnose it, if your not able to something so damn simple then **** no dont touch the car yourself. your asking people on an online forum how to do **** to your car, and taking the advice of people who plainly have never worked on a z or g that tells me all i need to know about you, dont like it go whine somewhere dont really care you came HERE asking for help i dint come to you.

and yes i do know it all dont care if im on your ignore list since im one of the most knowledgeable people on this forums in regards to engines outside a couple of the shops but if you actually used a search button or had a clue you would know that.

And I don't see how you can't get 0 pressure by oil pressure dropped completely... I had a mechanic check it out, he said it was the rods on the bottom on the engine, fairly easy to access and replace.
And you're telling me I don't know about cars or fixing them when you know nothing at all about me... You can barely type, yet I know nothing. Holy f*ck now I remember why I stopped coming to this forum. A bunch of smart as*es who think they know it all. God damn man welcome to my ignore list.

Make sure that nobody else starts to help. That is exactly how my 8 hour supercharger install job turned into an 16 hour job. Friends came in the middle of my install, decided to "help," ruined stuff such as stripped my idler pulley bolt, and left like nothing happened. Learn from my mistakes!

if you can actually read this, schofield barracks, hawaii any time im not going anywhere for awhile. like i said you never once said that it dropped completely nor that you had 0 oil pressure until after i intially posted then got all *** hurt because i called you out for trying to get people to diagnose **** without full information. no misunderstanding go re read your own **** since you have no clue what you posted yourself, like i said i quoted your own words which where incorrect.

bash my grammar all you want, i dont have a blown engine and trying to talk down to someone who could build a engine in their sleep while drunk. enjoy your repair bill followed by the engine continuing to be ****ed up.

I understand that completely, that's how my exhaust install turned into a 3 hour job..

+1

I've had a conversation with this guy before. As soon as I called him out on his crazy transmission diagnosis, he completely lost it.

Oh well, let him f*ck up and have to spend more on this. I'll be watching and laughing at the new thread next week "Tried to rebuild my engine with my buddies and I made things worse..."

Rods can not come out the bottom , heads would need to come off. Also with a bad rod knock, your crank is hammered and needs to be replaced. Just pull the motor
