Default Think im having Oil Consumption issues:/

Just did an oil change on my 06 and it seamed to only drain out about a quart and a half of oil or so. I ran about 3500 to 4000 miles (Synthetic), been too busy to change but finally found some time this weekend thanks god! after the change my oil pressure was looking much better as well. Should I go to a Nissan dealership and get it looked at?

First of all, you need to check your oil level more often. You do know the car is equiped with a dipstick. Second of all, oil level has nothing to do with pressure, unless it is to low to the point you have no pressure. Last, your car may be burning to much oil, how did you measure what came out?

What brand of oil and weight are you using?

And yes, you want to check your oil pretty much every day you drive if you suspect issues. Wait about 20-30 minutes for cool down and for the oil to settle then check it. The dipstick sucks for immediate readings.

I would suggest adding some seafoam to the oil and driving for 200 miles or less to clean off any sludge/deposits that may be causing blowby, then changing the oil.

I was burning more oil when I was using Castrol Syntec. At least 1 quart a month. I changed to Mobil 1 5w30 and substituted 1 quart with Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer for new cars and since then, the car is not burning oil.

There has been some debate on a few brands being thinner than others and a lot of people will run 5w40 or 10w40 instead of the 5w30. There are many things to consider but ultimately, if your car is burning oil, then you need to make some changes to try and make it stop. If everything fails, maybe you need new rings and/or valve seals.

Also, it's a good idea to change plugs if you do the sea foam. While changing plugs, inspect them for oil. Maybe your valve covers are leaky? Again, there are numerous possibilities. Good luck finding your solution!

I run 5w-30, Just put in Mobile 1. Castrol is what was in it. I will definitely be checking it more often now.

Thinking you are way beyond the warranty period for your motor.

As already mentioned,CHECK YOUR OIL MORE FREQUENTLY!
Also,I sure would not be using a full synthetic.Change to either
a semi-syn or a high grade 5w-30 conventional. It would not hurt to add
some oil stabilizer.Obviously you know by now the oil consumption problems
with most 06 cars.Keep an eye on the oil pressure.

Yeah, if it gets 1 quart low now, just add a quart of Lucas Synthetic Oil stabilizer. Stuff is a little thicker and might help. Mobil 1 is definitely a better choice. Also, if all else fails, like said above, go with a synthetic blend.

I figured full synthetic would always be best Atleast thats the case with my bike. I will deff put some stabilizer in if I start loosing oil.
