Default Standard rebuild costs

Hello. I would like to know how much a standard OEM rebuild costs. It would be great if I could get a few numbers from a couple of different people.

Hi Rich. Thank you for the reply. The reason I ask this question is because i may be getting a z with around 150000 miles on it. I'm not sure what kind of condition the previous owner will have left the engine in, and I wanted to get some figures of what I would spend if I rebuilt the engine. I'm looking to keep this car for a long time.

Before you start estimating what an engine rebuild will cost, try getting a read on the actual condition of the VQ35DE itself. Do a leakdown test to determine whether the rings are in decent shape, and if there's any loss of compression on any cylinders. Do a visual inspection of the engine itself and pull a UOA to get a better read on what's going on inside the VQ.

Obi - are you assuming that the engine needs rebuilt once you buy the car? I wouldnt automatically assume it needs rebuilt based solely on mileage. Nothing out of the ordinary to see a VQ engine in the upper 100 / lower 200 thousand miles.
