Bogging Down
Hi,
I have an ’05 Base with about 110k. It’s a daily driver -- she runs perfect 99% of the time, but last week I notice a slight hesitation when up-shifting and getting on the gas. There would be a split-second of normal acceleration followed by a split-second of hesitation/bog, and then normal acceleration would resume. I figured it was just some mechanical/electrical kink. Last night I pulled on to a major road and got on to WOT in 2nd with the intent of getting up to about 60 mph and joining traffic. Right at 3500-4000 rpm, the power just died, and the revs weren't rising. I shifted to 3rd, and got the same reaction. I also noticed the “service engine soon” light flash erratically about 5-6 times when I was in 3rd. This morning, the car seemed to experience similar bog/hesitation throughout the rpm band.
I’ve upgraded to a JWT H/D clutch and L/W flywheel, but the clutch feels solid, and the rpms weren't soaring when the power gave out -- those are the only mods. I did a search, and saw possible reasons of everything from bad gas, TPS, 02 sensors, ECU, plugs, etc. However, none of those posts seems to have the ‘service engine’ light flash, though.
Any ideas or suggestions on what may be going on? It would be good to have an idea before I take it to a dealer for a diagnostic -– if it’s not too serious I’ll just end up doing to work. Thanks for the help.

If your car hasn't had one yet, you need a tune-up. You're likely getting intermittent misfires. If you haven't already, it's time to do a full diagnostic on your car anyway.
