Angry Z stalled out at a stoplight and CEL lit up

So,

I'm relatively new to these forums, hello, hi, how ya doing? So basically, I'm running an 04 enthusiast that I bought a month ago. So I'm coming home from work and my car stalls out, no idea why. Once it stalled out, i started the bad boy up and my TCS was off and CEL was on.

After I started the car seems to be behaving normally, soundwise and performance-wise. I think I'll let it chill out for a week and drive my second car. I'm going to take it to Advanced Auto Parts today to get the OBDCII code to try and diagnose the problem.

I've done some basic troubleshooting tips(tightening the gas cap, releasing and reconnecting the battery) but nothing is working. My best guess is a faulty oxygen sensor? I really hope it's not a catalytic converter problem, I don't want to have to spend 2k+ on a new one and repairs.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Basically whatever the code is will tell you all you need to know. Post what the code is when you find out. Could be a number of things.

How many miles are on the z?

Just hit 68k last night. Gave my car an oil change after I got home, bought the car at 65k miles. It was due for one anyways.

Yeah that's kind of what mine's doing. Stalled out, took about 3-5 seconds for it to start up again. I'll keep that in mind. Cheers.

The cam shaft sensor is pretty common and I don't think it's hard to install.

Yeah, I just looked it up. Not too pricey either. Thanks guys. Once I'm off work, I'll have advanced run their tests.

if it is the drivers one, you just have to take off the intake and it is right there on the back of the motor, the passenger one is easier to get to

Catalytic converters won't make your car stall, so I wouldn't worry about that. And if you do have to replace them, just buy some aftermarket ones, they are much cheaper.

the car is after all 10 years old, i would consider this just maintenence.... stuff is going to break and go out, but at least this should be minor

So I ended up going to advanced and the problem was the camshaft sensor indeed. It was the passenger side, but I went ahead and replaced both. Took about 2 hours. Service engine light is still on, but I think I can get it cleared from advanced auto parts tomorrow.

Woot woot, glad to hear it was just that. The light will go off on it own after a period of driving and computer no longer detects malfunction.

Or just unplug the battery usually does that. Yeah mine was a cam sensor also.

Yeah I left the battery unplugged for a few minutes after I replaced the parts. Light is still on, i'll probably drive it around a bit today to make sure everything is spick and span

Okay, so I'm in the clear Went back to advanced auto parts, stole the scanner and cleared the code. Just as a note(for anyone potentially reading this in the future), the light does not disappear on its own, you have to set the scanner to clear the codes for you.

Thanks again guys, for all the help
