Default Needs a new air intake

Hey guys, I just recently bought a 2004 350z and have been trying to diagnose whats been going on with it. I eventually gave in and took it to the dealership (I had money left over after buying the car so **** it)
They told me that I needed to replace my air intake assembly (the one that was on the car does look like some cheap home made stuff honestly)
but of course nissan wanted about $740 parts and labor for it and of course I went and picked the car up haha.

Anyways I'm about to order the air intake and im not exactly looking for somthing really fancy, but of course I need somthing that is going to be functional. I have got 2 options here.
I'v got the cheapo one

http://www.protuninglab.com/cp-547b....tm_content=pla

or a K&N
http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=57-6013

I would of course want to save my money as much as I can but is there really any huge difference between these intakes? Also my motor is completely stock and these should work right with my MAF sensor correct?

Curious, can you post a pic of the current setup?

Seriously.... just find a stock air box here for sale (06 if you can find one). Believe it or not, they are about the best you can get that don't risk water ingestion and heat soak. Stick with stock and put a K&N drop in filter in there.

From what I gathered, he needs the tube as well. Otherwise I would have suggested a pop charger and call it a day.

Yeah, I need the tube and the stock assembly, ill take a picture of the one I have got (it doesnt have a box or anything at all which i dont think really matters but yeah)...I think the main problem honestly is theirs a hole in the bottom of it where it looks like someone custom cut and put a plastic fitting that doesnt really fit all that well.
What is this line anyways?
(like I said, just bought the car so I dont know too much about it)

Aftermarket Z tube (tube from the box to your upper intake) 2006 OEM air box and a K&N drop in filter. All for less than $300, maintains stock look and arguably gives you the best performance.

I have a pop charger and the heat soak is horrible. Even with the heat shield. I've been looking for an 06 box for sometime now. People don't sell them for a reason.

Wow! Whoever had that before you was "special". Take that and give it to a kid with a Honda!

although I guess it would be best for me to find the 06 air assembly and box, I cant seem to find everything in just one package so I'm guessing I'll just go with the K&N, unless theirs some recommendations that come in one package kind of deal so I dont have to go hunting for parts or anything.

Buy the other pieces from eBay under seller's guidance.

I just peeled the tape off on the end and theres a big chunk of plastic missing off the MAF sensor Housing and the tape was covering it up, at that the tape was put on with like some kind of glue or adhesive

Remove sensor from your MAF housing and put in this one.

I'm not familiar with this intake, if this is bad advice, someone correct me.

Unfortunately, I just noticed it was the seller's only post, I wouldn't count on that intake.

Plus, the polished k&n typhoon can be had for 240$. I would rather pay the extra 40 to get it new and from a reputable source.

Op, if you do decide to get a typhoon, it's a great intake. I just put one on my car like two weeks ago. That being said.. I have a stock one that I am willing to part ways with.
