Default Strange issues

as of yesterday.

First, a few weeks back my vehicle wouldn't start. Played with the battery connection, and started since with no issue (not sure if that's related)

Yesterday, I noticed a nearly inaudible light grinding/scratching noise at 2000-2500 rpm, but ONLY from a stop. That inexplicably went away since.

Next, I noticed a bit of jerking during gear changes (5 speed-auto) and seemingly a very light loss of power. It seems to drive smoother since these issues started...?

Also idle is a bit high (1500 rpm) from a cold start..

I can honestly say I have no idea what's going on with it. I suspect a few things and forum research has assisted, but really no clue.

I really don't want to bring to the dealership (car is out of warranty) but will I have to. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually, I just drove it again and it's more of "whirring" noise than grinding at 2000-2500 rpm, and it's back again.

UPDATE:

Took it to Japanese Auto service here in Phoenix. They cleaned out the air intake system, and replaced the air filter. They recommended replacing the Throttle Body if the SES light comes on. Car drove like a dream...for a few hours. I started it up, and wouldn't you know, the SES light comes on, and the car is back to idling and the acceleration is back to being iffy again.
Later I decided to try the "pedal dance" and try the idle relearn, after a few attempts it works. However, after waiting a few minutes and then restarting, back to square one. Finally, I decided to try a new trick. I disconnected the battery for about 4 hours the next morning. Well, the SES light was gone, the car seemed to be driving better, but the idle was still high. It seems to be high after cold starts (spikes around 2000 rpm, then settles around 1,000), not so much after stops at the store or gas station (around 800)
Any suggestions on how to approach this next? Is it throttle body or bust? Another crack at disconnecting the battery, maybe this time overnight?

What codes are you throwing? Run to Advanced and pull them if you haven't already.
