both the same ****. Rod knock is caused by spun bearings. In any case both engines willl need full bottom end rebuilds and crank needs to be turned

Both need a ton of work . I'd pick the one with lower miles and overall better condition.

I just bought a used engine because I spun a bearing from engine knock.

we tried repairing original engine....needless to say I bought "new" one and the old one is stowed away for now.
It will need oversized bearings and machining to be done, and I'm told the rest of engine internals should get micro-polish to clean bearing shrapnel that may have been pumped through the entire engine via oil, before it can be called "properly repaired".
As far as my understanding of engines goes.

My "new" used engine cost 2500 shipped from Tampa Bay to Canada with after-market intake and headers with 67k miles. It's only been installed for 2 weeks but so far seems to run great.

just buy a used, not-broken one.

Good Luck.

Seen it a few times too, usually on a friends vehicle that was being traded in the next day. Ive also seen it last a long time too, a friend of mine was low on funds and got a rod knock, we swapped out the bearing, emery cloth to the crank and it went another 30k miles.

LOL, ya i know its been done a lot. If it is caught just as it begins and there is minimal damage to the crank, and rod you can probably skate with just a new bearing.

If it was my only car, and i had no funds to properly repair, I would probably do the same thing. even if i had to do it every weekend while i saved....
