Angry Power Loss NEED HELP

I have a 2003 350z Touring. It is completely stock, except i have a full injen cold air intake on it. Just today I was driving, and it was pouring all day.
Later on in the evening I was going faster and accelerating quickly. I noticed right away on second gear at about 3500-4500rpms the power would just completely drop in the engine and it started bogging. I tried the other gears, first seemed to be fine, third and fourth gear did the same thing as second gear. Anyone have any ideas why it is just getting a sudden power loss? It has never had an issue before today!

either replace your throttle body, check your spark plugs, and get your differentials checked out.

Sounds like you sucked water from your intake aka hydrolock

Wouldn't hydro lock cut the whole engine out though to have it not run at all?

it would be more of throttle response rather than hydrolock

My buddy is a mechanic and he seems to think that my MAF may have gotten dirty? Would that have anything to do with it? He's the head mechanic at the main car dealership here. I'm going to check all the things you mentioned and see what else i can find.
Thanks for the help

Well clean the maf it's easy, see if it helps.

I think since you didn't have these issues before the rain and then you did could be hydrolock.

Similar thing happened to me about 6 months ago.

I also have a 2003 Touring with Injen CAI. Took an exit ramp one night and all of a sudden I found myself swimming in a pretty deep puddle. Car started a few more times after the stall but would just bog down right away. Had it towed thinking it was hydrolocked but the mechanic called the next day saying it was just some moisture near the spark plugs. Once he took them out and dried them (MAF was cleaned just to be safe) she was back to normal.

Hope all turns out well.

seriously, do not listen to the majority of these posts, they don't have a bit of sense, and are just plain ridiculous.
To truly hydro-lock and engine it will not run. you will so much water in the cylinders that the pistons cannot come to the top of the bore at all due to the water not compressing, essentially locking the pistons in place. Hence the term "HYDROLOCK".
have ur buddy check the sensors out for u. if he works at a reputable shop he should have a good scan tool. You would t be looking for CEL's , but actually testing the individual circuits.

Took the MAF off and cleaned it a little bit. I kinda flicked it a bit too when it was back in. Works like a charm again!
