Question Leak under dash creates puddle passenger floor boards

I determined it's not the windshield or weather stripping
Poked around and found it's coming from under the dash where a glovebox WOULD be

Had a stereo installed a bit ago but watched every step and there was no hole drilled into engine compartment

Seems as though there is a missing grommet in there some where

Any ideas where this could be coming from?
It only happens during heavy rain apparently. Car washes aren't enough water to notice the leak.

I removed kick panel and panel near passenger right foot, lifted carpet but didn't find much
Probably tackle the stupid battery compartment panel today to see if I can identify anything

So, my main concern is trouble shooting the leak
Repairing any water damage is a secondary concern of mine

Should I get my insurance involved in this? Take it to a shop to find/resolve leak THEN call insurance? Already checked and not covered under extended warranty

Advice please?

Thanks in advance.

I completely left out thr this only happens in heavy rain

Not during a wash or drive thru wash or light drizzle

Only during a heavy rain storm

Sorry about that!

Good luck dealing with your insurance company. I doubt they will do anything for you.

I can tell you exactly what is happening. Because it happens with mine too. When I was wiring my system, the power wire. From the battery to the amp. It has to get through the firewall somehow right? And you don't wanna drill a new hole right? There's a grommet in the back of the battery compartment that you have to remove the plastics to get to. This is where my power wire is ran. Now, I just cut a hole in the grommet and ran my wire through it. But somehow the grommet got pulled up and wasn't seated. Every time it would rain hard, my passenger floor board would get wet. I put the grommet back in the right position, no more water. Now, if you don't have a power wire running to a amp, check that grommet anyway, but who knows.

Long story short. There's a chance they didn't run through the grommet like I did. They may have pulled the grommet up and ran the wire through the hole.
