Default hit a traffic cone, help pls

hey guys, so i have an 08 white z and was driving home from work last night. the right lane was closed off with traffic cones and i was driving in the first lane next to it. i wasnt paying atteention and a traffic cone was in my lane and it was tooo late to dodge it when i saw it so i took it straight on..

long story short, i have some minor bumper damage and was looking for advice on whats the best way to go about fixing this..

there seems to be nothing major other than the dent at the bottom, bumper is still aligned well and the undershroud seems okay. it coming off in the front where it attatches though..

should i go for a whole new bumper? and maybe do the aluminum undershround while im at it? or can this dent be pulled and i can replace the middle parts of my grille?(dont think this part is possible from the looks) or maybe anything else i can do to repair at a decent cost..

thanks in advance

Cheap fix.... carbon fiber lower bumper cover---$125.00
Real fix.... possibly new bumper cover plus paint---$600.00

Id clean it up get all the black scuffs off with claybar,,, then pop out the dent as best you can then just put the carbon fiber lower bumper cover over it and be done.

I had a similar problem and bought the carbon fiber bumper cover. Very easy fix and looks great. Get the one from the zstore.com. Cheap and looks great!

This should answer your question. Yes, the grill and bumper are one part.

Heat gun and slowly form it back. Wil look better, but not perfect. It will also buy you time to figure out what you really want to do.

Just be careful that you don't burn your paint. I think you'd be able to do a decent enough job so that its hardly noticeable and like Terrasmak says it'll buy you plenty of time to make your decision.

i also have a family friend in body work so ima give him a call to get an estimate.. most likely ill just live with it for the meaantime..

Wow can't believe a cone did that kind of damage. I have hit a few cones at autox events and never had any damage.

Hit a highway titty, those real skinny french fry looking things that was laying on the ground on the highway and it bounced up and dented my hood, tore my lip off and cracked my bumper, those things are ****ing heavy surprisingly. Going to have to end up getting a new hood, got an ams replacement bumper, but still it sucks ******** when you cant avoid it due to all 3 lanes being packed. I feel your pain.

Advice on the reforming of the bumper is to not heat longer than 20-25 seconds and take the bumper off and do it from the backside so you have less a chance of bubbling the paint. Goodluck.

Sort of what I was thinking till he said at night. Most construction ends at dusk.

I know it is too late for this, but I am wondering if the construction company or maybe the government for public work would be liable for something like this.

Please come and tell my company this. While there is a lot of construction during the day, theres plenty at night too. All depends on the traffic volume. Most of the time the state will require work to be performed at night on high volume roads.

Are you freaking serious? Dude admitted he wasn't paying attention AND was doing 70-75. Barrels get moved into traffic by two ways: People not paying attention and people driving too fast.
I unfortunately make my living working construction. Working at night is even more dangerous. I can't tell you how many times I've had my safety vest clipped or had to jump out of the way. I have a wife and a 21 month old and the last thing I'd want is to not be able to come home cause someone felt it was necessary to get somewhere faster. Just slow down. Please.

Construction never stops in Cali. Those "Slow For The Cone Zone" billboards/warnings everywhere aren't there just to look pretty.
