Default Swap Questions

My tt 350 threw a rod and I'm gonna swap the motor out. My question is mine is an 03' and i keep hearing that i have to have an 03' motor. Can i not get a 04' or 05'? I know that i can't get an hr tho. I can't get a straight answer every post i see says something different each time.

I just swapped my motor in my 04. Old engine had spun bearing.

When I bought my new one it was listed as a vq35de 03-05.
so I dunno exactly what year the engine is but it fit with no issues other than the injectors were a different size and I didn't know, which took some troubleshooting to figure out when trying to get it running.

From my understanding(and I did a lot of reading beforehand) as long as its a de
And not an hr or a revup you will be fine.

I would try and make sure its from a z and not a g though,
There may be stuff different like injectors and cams not positive on that part.

Just seen u have tt, hope your not planning on transferring the tt to new engine without built block.I'm sure u got it covered tho, can't have a tt z without knowing this

Checked out your other post. If money isnt a huge matter, I'd get a built long block like the other guy said and swap everything over. Just my 0.02 ,
it's an awesome setup and I think you will find you will miss the hp big time.
I'm waiting to build my tt, still a year or two away

If you do part it out I'll be interested in buying some of those parts tho I'll keep an eye out for your partout thread.

alright thanks!! yea depending on the price of the motor will depend on whether i build the bottom end. really want the pack that z1 has for the bottom end and its only like 1100. Cause some motors i find are 1k and others are 1800 so it all comes down to that. but vsr out in tampa will be tuning it and they have multiple 350's on boost stock motor running in the 400's no problems so we'll see. thanks for the response tho!!

Yeah I was gonna suggest that package from z1 but wasn't sure how z1 prices compare to everyone elses so I didn't.

Good to hear you are already setup for tuning and have a good shop nearby that works on Zs, not lucky enough to have shops like that around here, all up in TO.

I bought my engine with 67k miles from Tampa and had it shipped to Ontario for 2500$ altogether and I even bought headers and kinetix intake so knock 500 of that price for reference when looking around for used motors, I found the prices really jump around depending on the seller.

Again GL, hope you get back on the road soon.

If your buying a used motor , I would do an 06 rev up and swap it back to DE. Keep the rev up cams , unless you run aftermarket
