What the hell ??
So I was changing my plugs and pulled my last one #6 and the hole spark plug hole is filled to the top with oil , coil and all ??!?! The car has 98xxx miles and was driving fine all along ? What do I do ??
The seal between the head and the valve cover, around the spark plug hole, is allowing oil to leak out and run down to collect in the spark plug hole. I would pull the valve cover and replace all 3 spark plug hole gaskets and the big gasket. I hope this helps.
Thanks appreciate it but I I have to replace the whole valve cover as the seals are incorporated . Sorry mods please close

new seals for me cost $120 gaskets, altima 03 vlaves covers, where you get the seals from and paint to turn them red
thats not true either, the seals are incorporated into the valve cover gasket, you cant buy them seperate. i work at a Nissan dealership i see this all the time.
My 05 had the same problem and I looked into it and the valve cover gaskets and valve covers are one piece and they ran about 200$ when I looked a few months back what I did was use the right stuff it's a black rtv. Uses the rtv between the spark plug tube and valve cover. Did this at 72xxx now I'm at 89xxx and no leaks problem solved.
Well I ordered the valve cover and gasket and it came out to 170 for both which isn't bad due to me getting parts at cost. I will be installing them today and report back if necessary . And to anyone I offended for making a pointless thread I apologize , I did know about the valve covers leaking just didn't know I can accumulate that much oil in one specific sparkplug hole . Again sorry to anyone who feels to comment how pointless the thread was and thanks to anyone for enlightenment .
No one here was born with the complete knowledge of vq engines and their common issues . If you have the requested knowledge and are offended that the OP does not ...it's simple ...move on to the next new thread mmmmkay.remember we are all learning at different points ...just cause you know something you think everyone should it doesn't give you the right to be an ***
Thanks guys , well anyways I replaced the valve cover earlier today and it was pretty straight forward . Drive around about 45 miles worth and no leaks yet . Oh and while I was in there I changed my cylinder 2 injector as I was getting a ses light for missfire on cyl 2, hope that helps it although I still get this strange pinging sound at idle every so often . Owell a friend said he got the same so I guess I'm not to worried . Btw also threw in the megan single exhaust and it sounds nasty even with just the pop charger . This weekend full tune up !
