DE, UTEC, P0221 Crank/No start, No spark.
Hello my350z.
I am working on a DE Z that has a no spark/no start issue. Details are below.
Fuel pump primes.
Injectors are clicking.
We do NOT have spark. Spark test was done by grounding plug on the frame to force the plug to arc.
Car cranks but doesn't fire.
Codes: P0221.
Fuses, relays, sensors are good, connected correctly.
Other checks:
Power supply circuit & continuity to ground for the throttle body test OK per FSM.
Resistance, power supply circuit, continuity to ground and signal test OK per FSM for the following:
Coilpacks
Cam sensors
Crankshaft position sensor
I also noticed the ignition condenser is leaking so I have a new one on the way.
Throttle body motor moves when the key is switched to OFF. However when key is ON and car is in gear the throttle body does not respond to inputs from the gas pedal. Replaced gas pedal and throttle body, problem persists.
Future checks:
Removing UTEC for diagnosis purposes.
Testing TPS voltage per FSM.
Questions:
Does the throttle body/TPS circuit cut spark or just throw the car into limp mode/no throttle response?
Has anybody actually replaced an ignition condenser or dealt with a problematic one?
And does anyone have any other suggestions on this issue?
Thanks,
Moncef

From my understanding of this cars circuitry, a tb circuit failure will not cut spark.
