Default Service engine soon came on today.

Okay so I bought my car about 1000 miles ago, I am sitting at 75913 miles and so far everything was going fine. On my way to work this morning my service engine soon light came on. I have normal oil pressure, normal temp, and engine is running smooth. I do have a cold air, injen, could this clog the maf sensors and give me a code? If not do you guys have any ideas, or things for me to check?

Also please understand that I do know where the search bar is, I will use it, but for some reason my app won't let me search for any topics this morning. So as soon as I get to a computer yes I will do my own searches, but any info or insight you guys have until I can do that is greatly appreciated!

There are a lot of things that can throw a code...

Get it scanned and let us know what that is. For example mine goes on after I unplug my battery for storage.

4 threads for the same issue and not even in the correct subforum

As others have said get your code scanned and it should tell you what it is...

Alright, so for starters I knew to get my code checked at orielys or something. And I did post that in an edit to my post but obviously it didn't take and I looked like a derp.

Second sorry for making the 4th post about this guys but I was at my unit with no means to an obd2 scanner and like I said my app wasn't letting me search the forums. Was a bad day for me all around:/

And third I got my codes checked. The reader said it is my O2 sensors, gave me two separate codes, one for each O2 sensor.

Latest update on my SES issue, I got my code to go away for a small period of time then it kicked right back on. P2A00 A/F Sensor (B1), so today I searched around the forums for similar problems and found plenty of info. After my search I jacked up the car to look for exhaust leaks, damaged equipment, and bad sensors, anything really that would lead to this code and I am pretty sure I found death. The previous owner decided to put in his own "custom" HFC's and ruin the exhaust system. So I have two pipes with a tiny little cat very VERY badly welded in between each pipe (Im positive the welds have leaks), they are mounted slightly crooked, and to top it off they dont have gaskets, there is an orange gasket sealer between each pipe and the exhaust manifold which is all but gone (more leaks) and cardboard..... CARDBOARD! with the same orange goop in between the pipes and the OEM Y pipe.

So long story short I have found the problem to my code, regrettably, and I need some new cats/HFC/test pipes. I kinda want to get some OEM cats for now (depending on price and only because I just got back from a very expensive vacation and dont have money for the ART pipes I want) and down the road after I have saved up again get my ART pipes.

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated of course, and thanks for any comments.

You should be able to find an OEM exhaust system in the marketplace for used exhaust equipment (click the link).

For what it's worth, on modern cars, I generally recommend you stick with OEM O2 sensors. If you have an hour to kill and have a general understanding of waveform diagnostics, here are a couple of good videos on why aftermarket sensors aren't necessarily going to save you money.

You'll usually find used OEM cats for $100-$200 roaming around the forums, new will cost you a fortune.

Thanks for the information guys, I'll take a look at those videos and start browsing for some cats.
