Default clutch dead already?

Hi, just got an 06 base model, and dealership put in a new clutch before I drove home. Had it less than a week and 6th is slipping at highway speed. I haven't been driving crazy, but it is my first manual. I did work the clutch a bit hard getting used to it and learning. Got burnt smell maybe 2 or 3 times starting out on nasty hills. Would that be enough to kill a brand new clutch? Thanks in advance y'all.

It is possible you killed it, but not likely. Most likely, they lied to you about the new clutch.

79k miles. They sent it to a Nissan dealer for new clutch, who said oem was not available and so they said they put an aftermarket in. This took them a week.

I just a JWT combo in mine.. It's good **** and revs like crazy.. But my last one had roughly 94k on it... Previous owner did mostly highway driving with it and who knows if he did pulls with it.. But Nissan putting a new clutch in and you trying to learn stick with that potentially not being fully broke in may have something to do with it... But I doubt it. But since it is freshly repaired, it should still be under warranty!!

Yeah dealership says Nissan place they send out work to will warranty it. Just trying to determine if is something I did that I can NOT do in future. I did drive a stick for about a week before getting the z so I wasn't a total noob. I also have been riding motorcycles for years.

It's possible. I know a kid in my hometown that blew the clutch on his Evo 8 the day he got it.

Not to be mean, but if you don't know how to drive stick, how would you know a clutch is slipping? Just seems like something a person would know when they know what their doing.

Lol I have done tons of research. I lose power in 6th and my slip light comes on. Unless I take it out of gear and drop into 5th I get no power. Then I can go back up to 6th and it will stay for a while until I accelerate More than just a tiny bit. But yes I am a noob thus I come seeking knowledge from you fine folks are you thinking it could be something else?

Well 6th isnt meant to be a high power gear.. It's overdrive.. Pretty much there so you're not sitting at 3500 plus rpm while on the highway in 5th.. So you wont get very much power in 6th. How are all your other gears? When you press down the pedal in the others do you have instant response with the rpm or does it shoot up then go back down after like a second when you start moving?

And in response to the 5AT, unless you're a dedicated drag car, why in the world would you get an automatic sports car? And whats the point of keeping it below 3k rpm?

If you burnt the clutch chances are you could have messed it up.

Now it sounds like it slipping. Either they are lying about the change or you indeed burnt up your clutch.. it can happen even in a day

All other gears seem perfect. Throttle response is great. When rpms come up they stay up till I let off. Am I just retarded and not using 6th gear correctly?

I'll try and post a video of my new clutch and flywheel later so you can see if yours is like mine.. And yes people mainly drag automatics because there's no lag time in switching gears, so you can keep boost going and not have to build it every gear. But for a DD or street car, auto is dumb..

That makes sense. Thanks for all the great info. Will see what Nissan says. I hope I am just an idiot and shouldn't have been in 6 anyway.
