Default Quick help with anti freeze

Well something was wrong with my cooling system, I suspected that it was the thermostat but I wasn't entirely sure. So I changed the thermostat today, flushed the system about 4 times and put in a extended life prestone coolant. Now the question, is the prestone anti freeze going to five me problems in the long run? Should I change it to another coolant? If so what's recommended? I have done plenty of research , half the people stated prestone is okay and half stated no. What should I do? The car is a 2005 has about 74000 miles. Thank you and any help/advise is highly appreciated

Please tell me you mixed/bought premix.

Brand-wise, I've never been picky with coolant. You should be fine with whatever you choose.

I mixed it 50/50 maybe 40/60, I live in SoCal, so I added a little bit more distilled water.

Oh alright, because I've been doing a lot of reading and saw all these people with messed up radiator or water pump caused by using wrong anti freeze supposedly according to them.

50/50 or 40/60 is good.

I've seen the debates, but have never seen any factual/objective proof posted in regard to new coolants.

Older, consumer coolants had higher concentrations of uninhibited ethylene glycol which is where the comparisons likely stem from (increased uninhibited content increases corrosion). Uninhibited worked well, except it broke down quickly under high heat - the products of the breakdown were the cause of corrosion.

Prestone is good. You will be fine. I assume that the container says "for aluminum block motors."

Most, if not all modern coolant is safe to use.
Old school coolant, when mixed with some types of factory coolant, has been known to cause issues, but you flushed it out good so no worries.

All new, consumer coolants have corrosion inhibitors. You'll be fine.

+1 to Travlee and Syner. Anything that says safe for aluminum engines is just plain redundant.....it's all safe for aluminum.
