Hi I have an 03' track edition, with an exedy clutch and lightweight flywheel. I just moved from Texas to Ohio; after one of our colder days (something like -5 for the first half of the day) there is a grinding noise in the back of the car whenever I accelerate and my engine is cold. The faster I accelerate the louder the noise gets, but after my engine warms up the sound dissipates. Additionally the VDC and slip lights come on every once in a while, but they turn off and stay off once the car restarts. The emergency brake light also comes on when I brake hard (not using emergency brake and it is fully in the disengaged position). All this started at once and continues happening even though it is much warmer now. Any ideas would really help me out. Thanks guys.

 

One of your problems might be low brake fluid. I suspect that is why your brake light is coming on when you brake hard. I have no clue about the grinding noise but you shouldn't accelerate hard before your engine warms up.

 

It's possible that this is the same noise that the rest of us northerners have. I've never heard it described as grinding, more of a whirling or whistling noise.
There are a couple of threads on here already about it. See what you can compare to your problem. When you said you moved from hot weather to cold I'd bet money it's the same noise but only you can determine that. Anything else change????
