Default Window Alignment?!

I seriously HATE our window motor, and overall design. In the process of replacing my window motor, I tried to clean it before but it was shot. I was able to get everything back together then with help from here..

I'm trying to get the black panel back onto the window tracks but cant seem to do it.

Does anyone have some tips on how to do this?

Hopefully those pics can help some. I haven't pulled the tracks off mine. I just had them out to put deadener in my doors.

ah I see. I got a g coupe that's why. ours arent blk like that. looks better blk. anyway ive done it quite a few times. trick is to strengthen ur fingers and lift it up through the big holes. its gonna hurt and be hard but after a few tries itll align at the bottom screw hole. then hand tighten it (might wanna get an assistant for that). after that the top should automatically be pretty close and screw the top. that's the only way man.

also usually I loosely bolt up the top corner bolts for the panel so it stays in place while struggling to get the track aligned for the bolt

Thanks guys this helped me 100%, I know have a working window.

I didn't do the reset procedure but it seems to work, goes up abd down perfect. Only thing is it doesn't drop down too much when opening and closing the door.

Should I do the reset procedure?

If it drops down 1/4" or more you should be fine.

Is there a way to reset the window motor without closing the door? I don't know how to take off the lock cables, and literally let the door pannel hang in by those and set it to the side.

The trigger for the door is on the inner pillar. Black rubber button that you can push in and hold while you do the reset with the door parts off.

Thanks I see that now. I guess my question is do I need the door closed when I do the reset procedure?

I Believe one cable is a ball and the other has an L shaped fitting on it.

Pop the white plastic piece out of it's clip, then either lift the cable end out of it's hole or twist the cable to line up with its slot and lift it out.

They are pretty straight forward when you look at it.

for the L shaped one I recall getting more room to move it with the door lock position on or off. I don't remember. but u can play with the position to make unhooking it easier

Is there a way to trick the car to think the door is closed?

Read the thread. It will answer your questions.

It is on the B pillar down near the bottom. It's just a switch that pushes in when the door is closed. Push it in and the window will index up even with the door open.

IIRC if you pull the mounting screw out of the switch it will roll the window up same as pushing the button in.
