Question P0011 and P0021 Codes

Hi all. I just bought my 350z a week ago and it started throwing these codes before I could get it inspected and now I am unable to transfer my tag and what not. I took it to get the sensors replaced and after they were replaced, I am still getting the same codes. The shop told me that they contacted Nissan and were told that it is possible that the timing chain has been stretched and recommended that the chain and tensioners be replaced. He quoted me $1500 for that job , then my heart sank. Is it possible that it could be something else that is causing these codes? I could really use some advice here as I cannot afford to spend that kind of money just to get the car to pass inspection. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the sensors have been replaced the next step is to do exactly what they recommended. Can probably get it done somewhere cheaper than the dealership

I called around to a few places and the shop I went to is actually about the cheapest. I didn't contact the dealer asking what they would charge because I knew it would be outrageous. I might drop it off Friday. Said I could get it back in two days. What do I do if this doesn't fix it? That would **** me off so bad.

From what I've read, generally the codes are related to:

- Failing VTC solenoids (since you replaced the sensors, ignore this)
- Dirty oil
- Seals on the cam cover
- Blown paper gasket on rear timing cover
- Timing chain could be off

This thread helped - I'm still in the process of fixing my code (P0021).

After replacing the timing chain, the codes are still there. So I'm nearly $2000 into fixing this and have gotten absolutely no where. I've been thinking of just replacing the engine completely.. I'd hate to do that since my engine has so few miles on it, but I don't really see much choice...

I'm having the same problem. I just pulled the motor to replace the upper oil pan. Did the water pump and tensioner while it was out. Went to start the car and threw those 2 codes. Replaced both cam and crank sensors since it threw both of them. Crank sensor code is gone but other 2 are still there. I'm wondering if maybe by accident the timing is off now.
