Default Will changing Leakey valve covers help w/ oil consumption?

Hi everyone,

My passenger side valve cover and driver's side (not as bad) are done. They are leaking oil to the spark plug holes.

Would changing the valve covers help with oil consumption? Is this a repair that has to be done asap?

Isn't there a slight possibility for an engine fire?

Otherwise just run worse and worse with time.

Doubt this is normal cause for oil consumption. But HEY maybe it is ur only problem

That's not a consumption of oil. That's a oil leak. If your worried about losing oil then I say yes fix them

Sorry fellas. I meant that the oil is leaving into the spark holes. There is no external leak.

Yea.....I assumed. Mine has both and am about to replace valve covers.

Just keep an eye on your oil level.......replace when you can afford to.

Just gonna add my own question into this related topic.

A valve cover gasket install should take around 4 hours correct? So the at the average shop this is a $500 repair correct?

I see oil leaking from here. Around the bolt on the valve cover

Get the maxima valve covers and pop off the spark plug tube grommets and swap em over. And the gaskets for both side is like 60ish. I say do it yourself! And if oils getting in the tubes, time for new spark plugs.

Is this advice for me or OP? Swap valve covers over? My understanding there was a lot more dissembling than popping off some tubes. The video above my original comment shows a good amount of items getting pulled off. Lots of room to make mistakes and such as a noobie like myself

Both of you, and you just get the gaskets out of the maxima valve cover. And it's all what you feel comfy with . I can dig it. Just trying to be helpful.
