Smile Assistance Needed Code P0340

Hey guys and gals,

So today my car pulled the wonderful P0340 code along with illuminating my VDC,Slip, and check engine light. Had problems starting it after it died the first time. I came home and pulled the code and it signaled "Camshaft Position Sensor "A" circuit" My question to you all is,does it being "a" means it is bank 1 that has fouled? And can I only replace that one and wait for the other to go in bank 2 down the road?

Also what about the crankshaft sensor?

FYI. Had my built shortblock installed about 2 weeks now. Only have put about 300 miles on so far.Could the sensor also sustain damage (dropped,over-tightened etc) during the uninstall/installation of my motor.

Thanks in advance.

P0340 = Camshaft Position Circuit A (Bank 1 or single sensor)

Some people recommend to replace both, but when it happened to me I only replaced one and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Make sure you get a OEM sensor and some sensors do come defective so you might have to try more than one as it happened to me.

Thanks man,
I ordered a OEM one from Z1 last night. Not in my budget right now to replace both.. took a hit with my engine rebuild and life.lol. Thanks man. Will update when the part comes in hopefully early next week.

Update****
Received my passenger side sensor from Z1.Popped in it today.Works like a charm.

FYI..I spent most of my time fiddling with the harness but when I figured to take the sensor out then worry about the harness and the fact i had to push it up even more,it was a breeze.

Thanks again for the help you all!!!
