Z grinds on startup only
So I think something up with my starter and or flywheel... Grinding noise only happens on start up, and no other time. No codes, or engine sounds, fluids ate good. It all seems to be coming from the trans...
I was installing the whiteline bushings for my diff and I went to move the car when it started grinding again when I cranked it. This occured about 4 weeks ago too, for a couple of days and it went away. I wasn't able to pin point the source of the sound, though the only constant is that it occurs only when I crank the motor.
I will check the starter tomorrow, maybe its gone bad or the bolts walked on me. Though its a 8 month old starter...
350z start grind:
Any ideas? I've tried searching but the issues that come up don't seem to be remotely close to what is happening to me.
Thanks
BTW. Stay tuned , I made a diy on the whole diff bushing swap

Agree^^ I would pull it off. Shouldn't take to long to drop the starter. Look at the teeth and mayb bench test it to make sure its doing what its suppose to. Can't tell u how many starters I ordered in the army to only find out after I pull the starter that I need a flywheel. U can see it though and u can also turn ur engine manually to check the rest of the teeth but its probably ur starter. Don't forget to bench test ur starter. Check on YouTube if u don't know how. I think advanced auto has a set up but u can do it with a battery
