Bad Crank Position Sensor Connection
I have a 2003 DE and im experiencing some difficulties with my crank position sensor/connector. I did a clutch and flywheel swap and after connecting all the sensors after I was finished, my car would only start and then would stall out after a few seconds. It sounds like my engine is misfiring when its on. Note* I replaced both cam positions sensors thinking that was my problem. I also put new spark plugs. But all done after this problem started. How did i come to the conclusion of the CPS/connector? I swapped sensors with a friends perfectly running z, and his car started with my sensor on it although mine did not. I then removed the plug from the sensor and turned my engine over and it started up after a while (took a lot longer than usual), but the car sounded healthy (no misfiring) and did not stall out on me as usual. I unwrapped the tape on the plug and made sure the wires were fine. So my question is are there any other variables that might cause this problem or is it the plug that is failing on me. And if so how do I go about buying a new one and replacing it.
before you start replacing all sorts of stuff, a simple 5 minute diagnosis with a oscilloscope will tell you what the problem is. Scope the crank and cam wires at the sensor and at the ECU.
Make sure you didnt get the HR flywheel.
When I replaced by 2004DE flywheel for a JWT I recieved a HR flywheel and didnt notice until I installed it.
The teeth on the outside of the flywheel for the crank position sensor are male on the DE and female on the HR if I recall correctly.
