Default Car is stuck in N, after hearing a clank shifting into 6th going 130ish.. 6Mt

The title says it all.
I now can't get into gear but able to move my shift left/right.
The car still turns on and I'm able to release the clutch without it stalling.
So I'm very positive whatever broke, it broke in Neutral.

I'm not able to shift up or down whether the car is on or off.

This all happened after I heard a clank from shifting into 6th going 130.
My shifter felt like it stayed it six gear but it was more like it was stuck there after I heard that noise, but I was able to Force push it back to neutral.

Any clue what parts I may need? I gotta sell my car asap, it should be an easy fix, but I know what part it is that broke.
I'm very positive my tranny is fine. Just the Shifter part is not working...

So help ASAP! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Have you checked the shift linkage? that would be the first thing to look at.

Most likely the shift linkage. Did you try to slam it into 6th or was it a normal shift? I'm assuming going 130 you slammed it.

There's not a lot of "linkage" on a 350Z, the shifter is on the tail end of the trans. If you pull the trim up and the boot and the rubber isolater under it, you can see where it attaches to the trans and hopefully see what let go.

It sounds to me like it's related to the shifter as you say but anything is possible, maybe get under there and look at the shifter mounting and see how it all looks.

@Italianjoe1 you are correct man. I lifted up the center console and everything. Can't really see anything from there since the Shifter is at the end of the trans.. but I didn't see anything broken from underneath either...

What now?? Sorry for the late response, I worked all day... sorry.

U seem like you're very positive with your answer.
And I think so too. Because I looked at my Shift Linkage from underneath. And everthing is still fine. So does this mean I have to drop the tranny to get this fixed?

If the pivot ball broke the clutch would never disengage and the pedal would feel like there was nothing attached to it. Car would still shift normally with the engine off but if started in gear it would always be in gear.

As for a shift fork, that's internal transmission stuff so it depends what broke and where, but that's possible. I would say something let go inside at this point, probably best to start looking for a good used trans to swap in.

I posted after reading that your linkage is ok but now that I think about it and re-read your first post it sounds like the clutch system is working.

you may have some serious internal damage to the transmission internals.

I would drop the transmission and check out the clutch area and if all is well there (tob, pivot ball/fork), replace the transmission.
