As the title says, I accidentally snapped and dropped the plastic positive battery cap under the battery.

Anybody have an idea what is in the compartment or if it leads anywhere important...?? I'm trying to decide on just leaving it or if I need to get it out.

 

It wont get into anything or hurt anything. Personally I wouldn't worry about it unless you can hear it rattling around.

I haven't had the red cap or a battery hold down on my car since 09 and it's still in the same place and nothing has happened.

 

it is lost in the abyss of random places out of reach... just leave it

No but I can tell which foot they were on because of the way it's stretched from my toes.

 

Get a cheap Borescope camera from Harbor Freight and look around where you think the red cap is. If you find it, decide if it's worth digging out and go from there. Then put the camera in your nose and look at all the nasty booger-covered hairs in there.
