Default VDC OFF button not working

2003 350z Touring

Ever since I bought my Z, my VDC Off button does not work, so traction is always on, limiting my share of fun I could have with my car. Whenever I push the button, nothing happens and the light doesn't come up on in the guagecluster. I know it's not a bulb in my gauges because all the warning lights turn on when I turn the ignition, including the VDC Off Light. Anyone know what could be the problem? If something might be disconnected or something? Might bring my car to my mechanic today to fix it

pull the panel off and see if the plug is undone... when i first bought my car they had the gas door and vdc buttons swapped.... it literally just pulls off, no need to take to mechanic to check that
