Exclamation Car did not run for a year

Hello everyone.
My z has been sitting for a year in a storage without a single start. b4 leaving, i raised it onto jack stands and took the wheels off for suspension sake.
car has only 20k miles, its an 07, NA, stick, base model ( no buttons on the steering, but do have the hump on the hood).

my question to you is about them fluids.

this is my plan, then let me know if and what i should/should not do.

1.drain old oil, put new in, put new filter, put engine flush, run for a bit, drain that, and put new oil and filter in again.

2.change the tranny fluid. ( the last time i did run it was in the storage, and i jus ran thru gears and it was not smooth like it should, even after oil warmup)

3.change diff fluid. why not - might as well

4.change the coolant. thinking just the radiator one, but maybe inside engine too, not sure.

and i think thats it. dont feel like changing clutch or brake fluid. oh i bought a battery b4 i left, its probably dead ( i left it unhooked) but i ll try recharging and see what needs to be done.

so now:
1. let me know what ur input on this

2.how i should go about coolant, should i change it only in radiator, or flush some out of the engine too?

3.is there anything else that needs to be done b4 driving it out of the inferno?

Not sure why you posted the thread in the marketplace, so I moved it.

What are your plans for the car? At minimum, if you plan on driving it again then you should definitely change the oil and filter. I don't think you need to do it twice, but you may want to change the fluid within 3k miles.

I don't think you need to change the transmission or diff fluid. Not yet anyway.

If you can flush the engine and radiator safely, then go for it. Otherwise, take it to a dealership and have them do it.

Bring a battery charger and plug in your battery while changing your oil. If your battery is dead, you'll need to give it some time to get a charge. If you're lucky, your battery isn't dead. If it was not hooked up, you should be fine.

I definitely would not put in the engine flush. I can't imagine why that would be necessary. Just a simple oil change should be all that is necessary, if even that. How many miles since your last oil change?

^^this...

the car should be fine, mine too is an 07 with 20k miles.. my hasn't been driven since September and was started yesterday and pulled into the drive.. no problems.. btw, I have yet to have dirty oil drain out, but I change oil and filter every 3 months regardless of miles.

Now if it has been stored for several years I'd do more fluid changes and hose inspections.. a year, eh no worries.

Engine oil and fuel are the only things really bothered by sitting. Tires might have some slight flat spots on them.

Change the engine oil and drive her.

i was trying to post in misc section - i apologize for it.

tranny fluid is bc it does not shift smooth. while it was on the stands, i put it in gears as if i drove, and it would not go into gears as good, i even let it run in gear to move the fluid around, plus it hasnt been changed at all, figured it would have been a goood idea.

yeah i do the work myself, i used to be a tech.

i ll try the battery, if its dead i ll charge it overnight.

a few months b4 i left the state. i ll change it anyways. i just thought after the weather change, that oil might turn into something, so i was thinking of flushing it. maybe i baby it too much.

i agree about the year, probably just being paranoid.

yes gas! i forgot to mention that. i was planning on sucking the fluid out of the tank with a huge suringe, and putting some fresh fuel, and also disconnecting the lines in the bay and crank it cpl of times to purge the old fuel out.

tires r of no concern, the wheels r off the car - stacked right.

well, thank you the first who replied. I really appreciate the inputs and the suggestions. i might be just over protective over a piece of metal. Just really care about the thing i worked for.

I say try driving it before you change the trans fluid. It should last a lot longer than 20k miles. I changed the oil in my 04's trans at 90k.

I've left my z for several months at a time and it's been fine, get an oil change, change the fluids and it will be good to go.

In the summer my car will sit for 2-3 weeks at a time while I'm riding the bike to work. Gotta save money on fuel.

If it was my car I would just make sure engine oil is filled and start her up. No need to change if it's not bad. I've left cars for years with old gas in and they started up first crank with a new battery(92 celica)

If you're running synthetic oil it should be fine. If you have conventional oil it will go bad with age and needs replaced.

synthetic of course! but still want to start fresh with the flush. bc of the oil just sitting there not being moved. it might have formed small clumps or whatever, just to be safe and not make it travel all around the engine.

Right. Condensation can also form in the engine and water is not a good lubricant. I was just stating that with synthetic you can go by mileage as long as it hasn't sat for extended periods of time. I change mine every 5000 miles be it 2 months or 8 months. 113k miles and is just now starting to use oil. About .5-.75 quart over 5000 miles.

well, when i will get it running, i plan on driving it every week or 2 for few hrs, so that should deal with condensation if any would start forming after sitting, but the oil change and flush should get rid of it.but yes, i change (ed) oil every 3-4k miles, depends.
