Question Compression Test

I cranked it 4 times and got 190/190/190/190/192/192 . When I cranked it till it stopped I got 220-222. I see that the compression is suppose to be 145-185, so did I do something wrong? Carbon build up? Defective gauge?

New tester from autozone
Warm engine
Dry test
Valve covers replaced not too long ago

I did see another thread with he same question years ago but no answer.

I'm always confused by this also. When I used to test T8D engines I used to get 210 compression (cranked a few times)

turn the key until the needle stops moving. On "MOST" motors you should see a reading between 175 to 195. since your motor on all cylinders is reading close to the same then its safe to say your meter is good. try it again on a cold motor with a different tester. it will probably read the same.

did the same on my nissan 240 and my 350z. compression on the 240 was
190
190
20
190

which means cylinder 3 was toast.

on my z it read all equal numbers except for one was about 2 points off. you did it the right way. guage is probably off or just reads different. my 2 guages read 2 different numbers on the same car. just 10 or so off.

So is there any way to find out where my compression ranges from high to low compared to other de's? I'm happy I got such close numbers though.
