I bought my first car, a 2004 350z a few days ago. Now that I've got it home I'm noticing a few kinks and the biggest one is the passenger side door. It won't unlock with the in-door switch, or by physically trying to move the lock to the unlocked position. It will fully engage the locked position but will only partially move towards the unlocked position. Every now and then if I'm lucky, pushing the unlock switch while also physically trying to move the lock will get it to work, but I'm afraid the longer I wait I may end up with a totally unusable door. I've tried to find info on this but no one really provides a clear answer from what I've seen. Hoping you guys can help me out so I can start enjoying my car!

 

You are correct, next time you can get it unlocked take off your armrest and door panel so you don't have to cut off one day.
Once inside you can tell what needs to be corrected.
