Default Brake lights not working properly. Bad brake switch?

Hello. I recently noticed yesterday backing into the garage that my brake lights were not lit up. I assume this just happened in the past day or 2 since no one has flagged me down when driving. My headlights, tail lights and parking lights work fine when on for night time driving. I have the OEM JDM LED tail lights and they've worked perfect for 4 years. I also noticed my 3rd brake light is out. When I press the brake, I see nothing until I let off and there's a quick flash. When I turn on my lights, the brake lights work but not as bright. I disconnected and reconnected the battery while also reseating the harness plug going into the switch. It looked like it started working fine again but it went right back to the way it was. Is the brake switch slowly on its way out?

I found some references here.

It's a 2003 AT so I assume age has caught up to it. Any advice or confirmation would be appreciated.

It sould be pretty easy to isolate if a defective pedal switch. A cheap multi testor or 12v bulb and wire will tell you. Check for on/off continuity. gl

Thanks for the advice jhc. I took out the factory switch and just cleaned it. The pin must have been getting stuck from dirt and grime. It seems to be working fine now.

Glad it worked out. Sometimes a little CRC electronics cleaner saves the old part.

I had exactly the same problem! Removed and cleaned the switch and it's back to normal!
cgkp0925 Thanks for the heads up!!
