Ok, so after going back and getting CE400 amp put in under the 087 TSB, all goes well. Stereo sounds pretty good, I wasnt planning on swapping it out anymore after the ride home. I go to start my car today and POP POP, CRACK POP all of the speakers and subs making awful noises, I turn the stereo off, same thing, still doing it. Sounds like something is loose, the car is pretty much undriveable it is so loud.

I was almost late for work, needed to take another car. I am bringing the Z in later to get it looked at again.

Anyone else heard of this?

 

That really blows! I guess we got lucky and the techs got it on the first try.

Well, just got off the phone. They said head unit was to blame, so ordering me a new one (7-10 days). I am almost 100% sure this is NOT it, probably a loose connection with the amp. Either way its cool, the CD player was skipping and first dealer wouldnt replace it a few weeks ago. At least the local small dealer is TRYING to fix my problems.

 

i got the fix done back in january. i wish i hadnt but that is because of the sound quality now sucks in my opinion. sure the bass doesnt drown out anymore at lower volumes but the high end range of bass is no longer there. also there has been a little more "wind noise" now from the back hatch area of the car. not too terrible but definately more than before. i found a website on the web (through google) that picture by picture detailed the process in changing out the bose amp and you wouldnt believe what all has to be removed as far as panels. they have to go as far as to remove the plastic panels that cover the rear cross strut. well thats probably what is going wong in your case. whoever put the panels back on might not have followed the same sequence or maybe they forgot some tabs and you get a rattle when driven. maybe this helps maybe it doesnt.

 

Well I took it apart myself to check after the first dealer said my car DIDNT qualify (which it does) so i know what needs to be taken apart. This has nothing to do with my problem though, this is AWFUL constant crackling, thudding, and popping coming through the speakers as if something like power or ground is loose. Seems to be when the car is cold only... But it is undriveable with that racket. Im affraid it is going to blow my speakers, and those will have to be replaced TOO.
