Default 5th gear not located where it used to be

2003 350z MT 123k

Issue: my 5th gear over time is not in the location it used to be when i first bought it. i think it shifted about 1/8 inch or less to the left. Before i could push the shifter all the way to the right and up and it would go into gear. Now if i go all the way to right and up to get into 5th its blocked. I can't go all the way to right and up to get into gear, i have to go a tadddd bit to the left from the usual spot.

ALSO,
for reverse i can go all the way right and down to get into reverse WITHOUT pressing the shifter down to get into reverse

any idea?

It probably isn't a big deal and the mechanism probably needs adjustment. If you don't feel you can do the adjustment, I suggest taking your car to a mechanic or a Nissan dealer to get it fixed.

KornerCarver nails this one. It's probably a simple adjustment. Try that first before you do anything else.

Thanks @emski
Fixed it and also realized the rubber part was wearing down which was probably causing a weird metal sound when i accelerate around the shifter area.
