my car is making a weird noise when rolling/in motion...sounds like metal rubbing?
So i drove the 75 miles to my tools.
The noise was heard for about 25 miles on every bump I hit. Kinda like a grinder being pressed against steel momentarly.
But after about 20-25 miles it disappeared and I didnt hear it the rest of the way...
Still think it's a wheel bearing?

yea i know this is an old post but this just started happening on my car. i replaced the hub and bearings about 10k ago so i know its not that. also the sound seems to start when the car gets hot ie driving in traffic or a really hot day. to me it kinda sounds like the TOB but for it to sound like that all the time doesnt seem right..any info will help thanks.
^ i have exactly what you stated madnismo. only happened when the car is hot and has been driven hard or for a long period of time. i also suspect it is the TOB. whatever it is it seems common. anyone else have an issue with TOBs grinding ?
I struggled with this problem for almost 4 months, everyone thought i was insane. Hopefully my experience can help.
Its your hub, and since the 350z's are an entire assembly you will need to replace the entire assembly. Its really easy to do, and the part is fairly cheap. Mine happened to be a little rusty and the ball bearings on the inside were starting to go bad. It makes this weird metallic sound when turning in the direction of the hub and also sometimes going straight/slow and breaking was really bad too. Pull the hub and confirm, maybe just reseat it, but if I remember correctly the part is like 130 bucks; worth a shot.

i changed both of them a few miles back. the sound only starts after when the car gets hot. i also noticed the other day i was going up a parking garage ramp and i could hear the sound. it kinda sounds like the diff of a f250 going around a parking lot. its driving me nuts somebody said it might be the bushings in the flywheel???
