Default Weird Limp Mode after washing car

Scared the **** out of myself today, almost cried on my way home lol.

So I drove to the car wash, decided to clean up the engine bay while I was at it and spray it down, kept the engine running just incase. So I did and after cleaning the car I left and noticed my car wouldn't go over 2500 rpm. I started to worry and drove home slowly but surely. I read other peoples problem with this couldn't really find much besides the ecu and maf sensors. So I decided to unplug and replug my battery and hope for the best and that worked? Everything drove like it used to, accelerated the same, reached same speeds in gear.

What caused this to happen? It scared the living **** out of me, I've only had this Z for a few weeks and am just worried.

water and electronic never mix....i keep my engine bay clean so i dont need to spray it down. its bad practice to spray directly at the engine bay especially with the car running.

Agreed, high pressure water gets the garbage off, but you can introduce water where it shouldn't be. Hopefully 24 hrs and fresh air will get you straight.

You went into limp mode. That'll happen if you get water infiltration into certain electronic components. If you plan to clean out your engine bay again, only clean it when the engine is cool or cold, cover the fuse box and other exposed electronics with Saran Wrap and use a dedicated engine cleaner/degreaser with a brush and use low water pressure to rinse. Avoid strong citrus degreasers since they can leave nasty stains on the plastic. Gunk Engine Cleaning spray works well. Blow the engine out with short, aimed bursts of compressed air when you're done and then let the engine run for a while until the block is dry. If you want to be EXTRA careful, disconnect your negative battery cable first (though I think that's a little bit of overkill.)

Most important engine-cleaning tip: Don't cry.

Was your engine running when you were washing it? Were you spraying water directly into your air intake? That's the only way you could have hydrolocked it.
