Default Labor hours for slave & master replacement?

Hello to all-

I have a 2005 Z with what appears to be the common clutch pedal sticking issue during hot days. I tried replacing the fluid but still happens. From what I read the issue is the clutch slave and/or master and/or lack of braided line. I don't have the ability to do this work myself. I realize labor rates vary, but what I need to know is how many labor hours should it reasonable take to replace these parts and bleed the system?

Thanks for any info.

Chris

with the external slave it is easy..... not sure how many hours someone will charge, but it is easy with basic tools

OP is trying to estimate what it would cost. Problem is, while we DIYers can guestimate a task as "easy" or "hard", it's different for a pro wrench. There's a general labor guide that most shops use to estimate labor rates. And every pro 0out there knows s/he has to beat that guide in order to make any money. It's why the only alternative is to get several local estimates and referrals before deciding the best way to go.

Don't have the info in front of me but you should be able to check with any shop. The information from AllData on labor hrs per task is standardized. (I believe there are other databases used as well but not a lot of diff between them - or shouldn't be!)

I'm guessing you're looking at an hour flat rate for a clutch bleed/line replacement plus part cost for the new braided brake line, which you can buy yourself in advance. Flat rates vary greatly by region. I wouldn't bother taking the car to a dealership to pay the upcharge for a simple job like this. Bring along a quart or two of Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3 & 4 brake fluid and tell them to use that. I swear that stuff works well on our cars (avoid that Prestone DOT 3 crap at all costs). If you don't have a local shop you trust, check out Yelp! or Angie's List, get the name of a reputable garage and take it there. Don't go to Grease Monkey or some local chain lube joint either.

FYI- I was charged 0.6 hrs to replace slave, and 0.8 hrs to replace master and bleed system.
