My key fob has always been crappy, have to be right there on top the car to unlock it, and the trunk is always iffy on opening.

My key fob recently stopped working completely out of the blue, tried replacing battery and reprogramming it and still no luck.
I noticed as soon as the key fob goes out, the trunk release button above the plate doesn't work either. So I have no access to the trunk and am stuck unlocking car thru door.

Has anyone had this issue, maybe something like a sensor or something gone bad to pick up the key fob ?
Any help appreciated

 

Trunk release will still work, you must have an additional problem.


Also that little hanging tab under the rear strut bar is a release.

 

I have a custom box stuck in there blocking the emergency release.

Just found it odd to both stop at the same time.

 

does the license plate bulb still illuminate? if not, then the culprit is the connector inside the rear bumper cover

 

Ima check it in a few, I'll come back with an answer, and if it is, is it a harness or something needs changing?

 

I would guess just the harness connector not properly snapped-in. did you have any work done in that area?

 

Nah, no work done near there. The plate light doesn't work either tho. Guessing I'll have to take my bumper off and check the wires soon.

What about the key fobs, should I bite the bullet and buy a new one or do you think it's something other than just the fob ?

 

im having a similar problem my remote entry stopped working can’t lock or unlock doors and set alarm, I replaced the battery but still no fix, my windows were opened a little the other day and it rained inside so I’m wondering what it did to cause this does anyone have any suggestions
