G35 coupe dome light/auto headlight turn off issues
So I am posting here as G35driver is pretty dead these days but I know lots of the G35 guys are still active here(including myself). Also figure maybe there is a similar issue with Z's.
I have an issue where the dome lights turn on and off by the timer when the car is turned off, but will not be actuated by opening the door. The auto headlights also do not turn off by themselves. The auto window tuck feature also is not working.
I am not sure as to the exact path of the "door open" switch wiring, but that seems to be the common issue. The auto headlights-off is initiated when it sees the car door open, the dome lights are actuated by the same switch, and so is the window tucking feature.
There is 12v going to the switch, and the ground is good on both driver and passenger side. When I actuate the switch there is a clicking sound coming from a white box under the drivers seat. Other than that I cannot figure out the problem. I already changed the BCM as well and it is still the same.
Does anyone else have the same issue, and anyone know how to fix it?
An help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Check the door switch in the jamb. Could be that it's busted. It's relatively easy to check the circuit since it's basically an on/off switch.

Ahh.. sorry, I missed that. Did you replace the BCM with a new unit or a used one? If used, is it guaranteed? I've seen used computers and ancillary computers arrive bad and owners would replace everything else not thinking that they might have replaced one bad part with another bad part. That being said, BCMs getting low or fluctuating voltages can give bad commands, so if you have an old battery that's not putting out much juice anymore, that can create issues. Are you using any aftermarket parts (i.e, LED bulbs, etc.) on the circuit? It's been my experience that those can create problems as well.

So i figured it out. I did a 6mt swap a while back and recently changed to the 6mt cluster to finish the job off. The cluster for some reason interferes with the "door open" signal which makes all these things not work properly.
I wish I could find the harness pinouts for the cluster in the FSM and maybe get it to work..

So it was a cluster ***, huh? Glad you found the problem.
If you can't find the harness printouts in the FSM, try visiting alldatadiy.com. They'll sell you the wiring diagrams for your specific vehicle for about $25.
