With the car and a/c running, the movement of the fluid through the sight glass should be free and clear of any bubbles. If there are bubbles, system is definitely low (but again, that's all it says.... "low"; not "how low".)

However, even if the sight glass if free of bubbles, that doesn't mean the system is OK. It's just a thumbnail view of what's going on inside and it's more of a warning: "if there are bubbles, you have issues"
Im pretty sure the z doesnt have that, but i just learn something new today. So still happy haha

Good job, T'bo! Please report back on this in a couple/few weeks just so people know what to expect.

If it needed freon put in, it has a leak. It doesn't just go away. My 93 F150 has never needed topped off on freon and it still blows cold.

Really? I was always under the impression that it was a maintenance item type thing. Admittedly ive never have a car long enough to ever required it, but it was just my assumptions.

It is a "maintenance item" SORT OF. Older car, compressor seals wearing from drying out (which is why it's a good idea to run the A/C at least once a week) resulting in slooooow leakage.

Just a natural age progression thing. Some do it, some don't.

An AC system should not leak if it is working correctly. I have heard it helps if the system is used frequently so try to use it more often that one a year.

EDIT- looks like MicVelo said it better

Yea i think thats the problem then. It probably has a small leak. The car gets taken out maybe once a month and almost never during summer. 100+ degree with turbo is never fun so i avoid it. Ill probably start using it more and run the ac more now. If there is a leak ill remember to run it once a week haha

Been over a week since i recharged it. Ac is still blowing cold. If i do have a leak, its a VERY small, slow leak.

Ill update in a month to see whats up

Default AC Leak Question

I have an AC Leak on my Nissan 350z (2005). I have taken off the intake manifold and injected AC Leak Die on the low side with the engine off. I do not see any leak using a Black UV Light on the low and high side AC Lines. I see a glow along the joint for a bigger hose running from right to left below the AC System/ Engine. What is that hose because I notice a puddle of UV Leak Die on the bottom of the tray most likely coming from that bigger unknown hose?

Responses would be greatly appreciated!

Dude!!

For some odd reason, this morning as I was doing the mod thing checking everyone's behavior (laff!), I thought, "Hey, where's T'bo at? Haven't seen him wreaking havoc on anyone's ego lately."

Hahahahahaha!l Welcome back, pops (to be).

It's one of the a/c hoses. If it's leaking from a joint, it's just a bad o-ring. If it's leaking from a crimp, you need a new hose.
