Clicking sound when clutch catches
Hi everyone. I'm fairly new here and from what I've seen this is one of the best, most helpful communities I've come across. I apologize in advance if this is the incorrect place to post this.
I bought my '03 Performance Edition Z from a neighbor at the beginning of the summer. Absolutely love the car.
I started hearing a sound from outside of the car that sounded like something was loose. At first I figured it was in the brakes because that's exactly what it sounded like. Then, as I was driving with the windows down, I could hear it a little better and noticed it was coming from under the car and only happened when I let up on the clutch pedal at the point where the clutch catches or there's "weight on the gear" as my friend put it. It sounds as if there's something loose or dangling. When they had it up on the lift while I was having a control arm replaced, I took a quick look around under the car and saw nothing obvious, but I didn't really want to poke around in there too much while they were working. I may have an opertunity soon to have it on a lift and was curious if anyone has any suggestions. My first plan is to look at the shift linkage. I believe it to be a stock shifter, though this is my first Z and I'm going off the assumption the shifter is pretty short to begin with.
Here's a link to a video of the sound. (I was behind a movie theater so I could get the sound to bounce off the wall, so nothing to really look at)
