After looking through several for sale ads, I came across this injured beauty. It's a 2007 Z with 65,000 miles on it, manual, with custom painted interior. The obvious problem is that it was in a wreck. From the standpoint of getting my first Z, I think this would be a perfect project for me. What would it take to get her back on the road. Working from a budget of about $2,000.
Wow.
I'm not the expert here but it looks like someone slid into a curb at high speed. "What would it take" depends on your definition and goals.
The bad-
$500+ on salvage yard parts if you DIY. It probably has frame damage that may or may not let it drive straight. Consult an auto frame shop for an estimate. Lastly, if you want to correct the driver rear 1/4, I've heard these run $3-5k.
The good-
If you just want a driveable Z and have some tools and skills, great. Buy cheap tires until it drives right. Good luck!
but - hell no way to repair that on a 2k budget. in addition to the points mentioned by the folks above-
i would also question as to what condition the diff and driveshaft is in... forget about the custom painted interior if that is having any factor in your consideration of this wreck.
so - you got the story/video of how this car ended up this way?
JUST body work alone is already well past $2000. More like $3k+
If you have a $2000 budget for a Z, better get a pristine one that needs nothing but an oil change. And I'm guessing that's out of the question if yer looking at junk like this.
Welcome- as everybody else has said, there's no way you'll get that Z back to being straight on a $2K budget. That being said, this begs more questions about you. What level of mechanical skills do you truly possess? Do you have automotive tools to work on such extensive damage? How about a garage that you could tear down and build your project in for a few months?
BTW- there's a reason that Redline Z was put up for sale in the first place. The owner certainly can't fix it, or if it's salvage, the junkyard is just fishing for a better offer than what (s)he'll get at auction.
