Default Can't enter programming mode to pair new fobs 😭

'03 Nissan 350z
I'm aware of how to link fobs, starting off with
  1. Closing then locking the door using driver side panel
  2. Inserting key in and out of ignition 6+ times (within 10sec) until hazards blink, verifying success
BUT my hazards never do so. I've been attempting to pair these fobs for a little over 2 hours now with no luck. I've tried moving onto the next step, ignoring the fact my hazards never blinked.
  • Insert key and turn to ACC and (within 5 seconds) press any button on fob ONCE and await for hazards to flash
This step was successful in which my hazards flashed upon press of a button. However, upon taking key out, unlocking my door, and stepping out (or closing the door) of my car the fob would not work. Anyone have any ideas??
