2005 350Z Roadster - windows randomly go down about 4"
Both windows will (sporadically) go down partially and stop; like it thinks the convertible top is retracting or closing. Typically neither window will go up or down. Most of the time turning off the ignition then back on fixes the problem. But sometimes that doesn't work unless you leave the car for while. Frequency ranges from not happen for quite a while (months) to happening every few days, then suddenly everything is fine. Completely unrelated to the convertible top.
Recently the drivers window would not go back up for days, then finally worked.
Any ideas on what is going on?

Turns out it's the grease on window cables collecting on the window motor brushes, making the cables slip instead of raising and lowering window. Hope this helps. It's a PITA.
Thanks for the info! Sounds like that is one of my issues, as the window, when I can get it to go up, makes an odd noise that is most likely the cable slipping. I can help it along by pulling it up.
The other issue of windows randomly going down part way, which is normal when retracting or closing the top, remains. seems like a sensor issue?
