I know this is a little late, but I did find it. It's in the fuel tank, and is part of the fuel pump ***'y. Does anybody know when you have to change it? I heard in some cases, they don't need to be changed for 100,000 miles in some cars.

According to the service manual, it states that the fuel filter is a "maintenance free" item. I am not sure what would constitute the need to replace it, but if there is a problem with the car and the fuel filter is the cause, I would only let a Nissan tech do this procedure. It looks really long, complicated and slightly dangerous if fuel is present since you open up the gas tank to do it. Hope nobody dynamatted the complete area within the cubby hole areas where the glovebox and Bose subwoofer go ...
