Default Storage lid won't lock

Hello everyone,

I've bought a 05' convertible 350z.
Unfortunately, there is an issue with the lid storage.

As you can see on this video:

It won't go to the end and doesn't lock.

Do you guys have an idea?

1st possibility- there is something under the vinyl preventing the canvas from dropping far enough for the tonneau to latch.
2nd- the canvas and bows are not folding tightly enough for the tonneau to drop into the latch position.
3rd- the moving parts need a light lithium grease bc binding, same for gears found under vinyl skirts.

I am not 100% sure but there are little switches that control movements. They are dark colored with a silver colored blade and bend easily. I would pull all the vinyl out, look for obstructions, lightly grease joints, gears and moving parts, check for anything that looks damaged. Obviously the top and tonneau may be destroyed (or not) at hwy speeds. GL!

It could be a couple things. My top does the same thing sometimes when I haven't dropped it in a while. I think the material is getting old and a little stiff. Essentially, the top material isn't folding enough to allow the storage lid to come down and then latch shut. I just reverse the operation so it starts to close, and then cycle the switch back to shut again and it usually closes all the way. I have a new top in the garage and I just have to get a free day to put it on.

The alternative could be the linkage from the auto lock motor (housed in the hatch lid) being out of place. This is the latch built into the hatch lid that reaches up and pulls the back of the top down tight. Check TSB NTB03-122.

Or, the elastic bands are worn out and not pulling down one of the bars enough so that the top doesn't lay flat. Easy fix.

It looks like that part is 97130-CE40A for the right side and 97131-CE40A for the left side.

Hello guys,

i did change those 2 cylinders. Was thinking the issue came from here but no.

the rear part window doesn’t lift at all, I’ve got to manually help it. At the first time to open, and at the end if I wanna close the soft top

the storage lid now close fine at the end, elastic changed.
