My trunk release button and rear license plate lights stopped working a while back and I finally have time to try to take a look at it. The remote can open it just fine so it isn't a problem with the latch mechanism or motor itself. I've pulled off the rear bumper to make sure all connections are secure and cleaned up a bunch of the dust/junk that was in the area, but still no luck. I've also checked all fuses and haven't found any blown fuses.

I've searched all over and have found a couple people in a similar situation, but none that posted the end solution. At this point I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do next.

Has anyone experience this or have any ideas what else I should check?
