Default Replacing ecu

Recently bought a 2005 base model 350z & has been running perfectly fine but the previous owner says it has an 04 ecu. I was thinking about replacing it to an actual 05 ecu but I'm not sure what specific part number it's supposed to have. Would there be a way of finding out what exact ecu I need?

Welcome- moved your post to a more appropriate forum. As for your question, is there any specific reason why you'd like to have a '05 ECM rather than the year earlier version you have now? Are there any CELs or other problems?

Thanks for that, I'm new to the site. It's got a CEL on with the codes U1000 & U1001, I was told it could be a bad ECU & to replace it.

The U1000 and U1001 codes mean theECM lacks communication with other control units that are part of the CAN system (Controller Area Network) in the car. It could also have been triggered by a single event when communication was disrupted. Are there any other functional problems with your Z?

The car runs perfectly fine but I also have O2 sensor codes P0031 & P0037 & a while ago I had to replace the immobilizer.

If the car runs fine, I wouldn't replace the ECM automatically. The codes indicate it is detecting issues (like the O2 sensor) as it should and is not defective. Not sure why you had to replace the security immobilizer, but swapping out the ECM without any reason seems like an unneeded repair.

I had to replace the immobilizer because the car would only crank and not start with the red light on the dash on & the rad fans on full blast. Thanks for the help though! Good to hear that I don't have to replace the ECU.

Default U1000 p1065 codes

Hey I have an 05 350z that is throwing these codes. This is the first time I’ve come across these codes. Also my first 350z , I’m trying to get my car smogged but can’t because of these codes. Does anyone know what it could be ? The most common ? The car turns on and drives fine, I’m wondering where is the best area to look first. I was looking by the battery where the fuse box is located, because I was told to check for any wires damaged etc etc. I found a wire that was cut that goes to the ecu and ran through a separate wire, but I don’t know what that wire is for, and why it was ran different. So I’m not sure what it’s affecting. Any help would be great , thank you !

Here is a pic of the wire that is cut.

exactly. I don’t know what they were trying to do with that. But I found out that wire is for the safety neutral switch.
