cut off frayed ac belt
On the 2005 touring: :while idling a loud noise and a screeching noise caused me to turn it off to inspect. The ac belt is frayed into a working section and three frayed pieces, one of which is broken. I'd like to cut it all off before a 3 mile trip to the garage with a lift. I worry about further disintegration and flapping pieces causing damage. I have a small diagonal cutter, a garden pruner, a limb lopper, a serrated steak knife, and a hack saw. I'm thinking hack saw or limb lopper if I can get them on the belt. Which do y'all suggest for the first and/or subsequent tries?
B-T-W, the main belt was replaced about 5 years and 200 miles ago. I've been inadvertently splashing diluted coolant around trying to burb the system to solve overheating.
